The visit itinerary includes the fifteenth-century Malatesta Library and the so called "Piana" one, the private library of Pio VII (Gregorio Barnaba Chiaramonti from Cesena), today an integral part of the ancient library, where are permanently displayed the choir books of the Cathedral and the ones of Cardinal Bessarion and - in rotation - ancient books, manuscripts and printed volumes.
The visitors will have access to the library rooms through the “Picture Gallery”: a preparatory space that introduces the visitors to the Codex Room.
This gallery, through original and replicated documents, briefly presents the figure and the iconology of Malatesta Novello, the shaping of the library, the context in which it rose.
Here ancient maps, archeological remains and recontructions find their perfect place. Monthly, different manuscripts are exhibited in special showcases.
The visit lasts 50 minutes.
The bookshop of the library, that includes history books, catalogue and gadgets, can be visited in the wait.
The Aula of Nuti is situated at the first floor of the library: the access for persons with disabilities is guaranteed by an elevator.
The entrance ticket to the Malatesta Library allows free admission to the Archeological Museum (currently closed for restoration) and to the Municipal Art Gallery.
